Understanding the causal relationships between ecological variables is at the heart of ecological research. Linear modeling provides a powerful and widely used statistical framework to explore these relationships, test hypotheses, and make predictions. This online lecture series aims to introduce undergraduate students to the core principles and applications of linear models, with an emphasis on real-world data and examples from ecology science.
Over three interactive sessions, students will learn the foundations of linear modeling, how to implement linear models in R, and how to interpret and communicate results effectively. The lectures combine theory, hands-on practice, and critical thinking, equipping students with the basic skills needed to apply linear models in their own research or coursework.
By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently fit, evaluate, and interpret simple and multiple linear models, laying the groundwork for more advanced statistical approaches in ecological research.
